The World Bank has approved a USD145 million investment to improve water security in Cambodia. This new project, funded by the International Development Association, aims to enhance water supply infrastructure, increase agricultural productivity, and build climate resilience.
The five-year project will be implemented by the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries. Key activities include expanding hydrometeorological stations, updating policies, preparing climate-informed river basin management plans, and improving water authorities’ performance. Additionally, water supply systems for households and irrigation will be upgraded, and technical assistance will be provided to Farmer Water User Communities. The project will also promote climate-smart agricultural technologies to boost productivity and reduce emissions.
