Alphabet-owned Waymo has announced plans to launch a fully autonomous, all-electric ride-hailing service in Singapore by 2028. The service is being developed in partnership with Singapore’s Ministry of Transport and Land Transport Authority, with the initial rollout planned for western Singapore, including the Labrador and HarbourFront areas.
An initial fleet of all-electric Jaguar I-PACE vehicles is expected to arrive in Singapore within the next few months. A readiness exercise is planned for 2027, during which trained specialists will manually drive the vehicles to support adaptation of Waymo’s autonomous driving system to local road layouts and weather conditions. Subject to regulatory approval, fully driverless commercial operations are targeted to begin in 2028 through the Waymo app, supporting commuting, weekend travel and first- and last-mile connections.
