Vietnam’s Transport Ministry will soon undertake a 30 trillion dong expressway project connecting Ho Chi Minh City with a southern border province. The proposal has been made by Cuu Long Transport Infrastructure Management Investment and Development. The proposed expressway will link the city’s Thu Duc district with Moc Bai Border Gate in the southern Tay Ninh province bordering Cambodia. The 84.5 km four-lane expressway will be developed on a build-operate-transfer basis in two phases. Under Phase 1, 55.5 km would be developed at a cost of 14.46 trillion dong, while a combined 38 km of viaduct worth 15.5 trillion dong will be constructed under the second phase. The project will be funded from sources like ODA, the state budget, and loans from the Asian Development Bank.
