The Vietnam government has approved the construction of a new international airport in Long Thanh. The project will be undertaken in phases and will eventually have a capacity for 100 million passengers per year. The total cost of the airport stands at $16 billion, which will be financed from the state budget and from the sale of shares in state-owned aviation companies, as well as development aid and other sources. Under the first phase of the project, 25 million passengers per year capacity will be built by 2025.
