The Ministry of Transport (MOT) of Vietnam has approved USD359.3 million for works on the second phase of the North-South Expressway’s eastern section. Phase 2 of the North-South Expressway project will require an investment of USD5 billion, out of which USD1.95 will be financed from the State budget for the medium-term public investment plan of the 2021-2025 period.

MOT has already allocated USD10.8 million for investment preparation and USD349 million for ongoing site clearance work. About 70 per cent of cleared land will be handed over for construction by the end of November 2022. The remaining site will be handed over by Q2 of 2023.

The second phase of the North-South Expressway project is 723.9-km-long. The projects consist of three sections including the 260.9-km-long Ha Tinh-Quang Tri section, Quang Ngai-Nha Trang section which is 352.1-km-long and the 110.9 km Can Tho-Ca Mau section.
