The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is set to provide USD1 billion in funding to construct the Manila Metro Rail Transit Line 4 (MRT-4) in the Philippines. Signing of loan documents will be completed in 2023.

The metro rail project replaces the previously proposed PHP59 billion monorail project due to its higher passenger capacity, maintainability as well as ease of future expansions.

The fully-elevated railway mass-transit system will connect the eastern regions of Metro Manila to Rizal. The MRT line will be 15.56 km long with 11 stations as well as two provisional stations. Construction works are set to commence in 2024 with commercial operations scheduled for 2028. Once fully operational the line is expected to serve 4,464 passengers during peak time.
