The Vietnamese government plans to commence the construction process for 16 transport projects in 2019. Taken together, these projects are expected to entail an investment of VND 26 trillion. Of the 16 projects, 14 projects will receive capital from the state budget and government bonds. Two projects, namely, the upgradation of railway signalling systems of the Hanoi-Lai Cai, Hanoi-Dong Dang and Hanoi-Thai Nguyen routes and the construction and upgradation of local roads and bridges, will be implemented using ODA funding.
In terms of capital requirement, the Cam Lo-La Son expressway project, a section of the southern North-South Expressway project, is the largest project. Expected to cost VND 7.67 trillion, the construction for the project is expected to begin in the second quarter.
