Construction has started on the Cat Lai and Long Hung bridges in Vietnam, with combined investment exceeding VND36.7 trillion (USD1.4 billion). Developed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, the projects will strengthen transport connectivity between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai and improve access to Long Thanh airport. Both projects are scheduled for completion and opening in 2029.
The Cat Lai Bridge project will span more than 11.6 km, including a 3.6-km main bridge and approach structures, with an investment of more than $910 million. It will have six motor vehicle lanes and two non-motorised traffic lanes, with an 80-kph design speed and a 450-metre main span. The Long Hung Bridge will extend approximately 9.8 km, including 3.5 km of main bridge and approaches, with investment of more than $480 million. It will also have six motor vehicle lanes and two mixed-traffic lanes, with an 80-kph design speed and a 350-metre main span.
