TNB Power Generation Sdn Bhd (TNB Genco), Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB)’s wholly-owned subsidiary, has received a letter of notification from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA) for the development a hydroelectric power plant at Kelantan, Malaysia. This plant is projected to have a capacity of 300 MW. The project’s construction is expected to take five years and will be completed by June 1, 2027.
Kelantan will also benefit from the project in terms of flood prevention, cleaner water supply, and irrigation water supply. Furthermore, the project will improve electricity supply security in Peninsular Malaysia, notably in the eastern region.
