Tata Communications and Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) have announced their partnership to develop stable, high-speed, and reliable connectivity in the ASEAN region, as well as open access to global corporations. The partnership will provide local operators access to a worldwide Tier 1 Internet Protocol (IP) network, service providers and will allow mobile network operators, and internet service providers in the region to meet their customers’ expanding data connectivity needs. This will aid in the delivery of stable Tier-1 IP Transit (IPT) services. Tata Communications will use TM’s data centre and network infrastructure in Malaysia to increase its IPT service coverage as part of this agreement.
This collaboration will also allow Tata Communications to boost TM’s accessibility within the ASEAN region through submarine cables and terrestrial networks to the neighbouring countries. The submarine cables that will be used include the Nusantara Gateway submarine cable for connectivity to Indonesia and the Malaysia-Cambodia-Thailand submarine cable for connectivity to Indochina.
