The Government of Iloilo City has started implementing its enhanced Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP) in the Philippines. As per the plan, only 25 per cent of consolidated first-town jeepneys from Iloilo Province’s transport cooperatives can enter the city.

The LPTRP, part of the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP), reorganises 17 existing city routes and adds eight new routes. The ICTMU, in coordination with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO), ensures that only compliant vehicles are allowed.

A total of 2,142 vehicles, including 520 modernised and 1,622 traditional consolidated jeepneys, are cleared for city routes. The LTO will handle franchise violations while ICTMU will conduct compliance checks. Transport cooperatives must report non-compliance.
