The Department of Transportation (DoTr) has announced plans to revive the Panay Railway System Project. The PHP78 million bid for the one-year was announced in May 2024. This project aims to update the last feasibility study from 2009, focusing on reviving the 117 km-long railway line connecting Iloilo and Roxas.
The Panay Railway System is part of the Infrastructure Flagship Projects under the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028. This is the second bid announcement, following a PHP49.99 million bid in January 2023. The study includes traffic demand, ridership forecast, route planning, technology suitability, environmental and social impact assessments, engineering preparations, and financial and economic analysis.
