A joint venture (JV) of Gulf Energy Development and Ratch has launched the first 770 MW gas-fueled unit at their Hin Kong power plant in Thailand. The plant received its first LNG shipment at PTT’s Map Ta Phut Terminal 2 (LMPT 2), also known as the Nong Fab LNG terminal. The plant will also supply 700 MW of contractual electricity to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

The construction works for the second unit are 96.5 per cent complete, and testing and commissioning of the gas turbine will be conducted in March 2024. The unit is expected to begin commercial operations in January 2025.
