Telekom Malaysia (TM) and Telin have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly explore submarine cable projects in Asia. The partners will increase capacity on each other’s underwater cable systems, assisting in meeting the region’s growing connection demand. The firms will also explore possible co-investment opportunities in future systems.

The partnerships is expected to aid meeting increasing broadband demand in Malaysia and neighbouring countries. TM presently owns and rents 30 undersea cable networks totalling over 320,000 km, while Telin owns and leases 22 cable systems, totalling over 222,260 km.
