Changi Airport Terminal 5 (T5) will be directly linked to Singapore’s MRT system through the planned extensions of the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) and Cross Island Line (CRL). Both lines will have stations located within T5’s integrated transport hub, which will house services such as MRT, buses, and taxis. According to Changi Airport Group, TEL will offer a direct route to the city and extend north to connect with the Johor Bahru–Singapore RTS terminal at Woodlands North. The CRL extension will connect T5 to major areas like Punggol Digital District and Jurong Lake District.
Currently, the last CRL station is Aviation Park, which will be extended to reach T5. The existing Changi Airport MRT station will also be incorporated into the TEL network in the future. As part of these changes, Tanah Merah, Expo, and Changi Airport stations on the East-West Line will undergo modifications starting 2025. Once the extensions are completed, passengers can switch between the TEL and CRL at T5. A separate underground people-mover system will link T5 with Terminal 2 for passengers who have cleared immigration. T5 is expected to open in the mid-2030s.
