Sungrow has commissioned the Citicore Solar (CS) Batangas 1 Project in Lumbangan, Tuy—the Philippines’ first solar plant equipped with large-scale battery storage. The project combines a 197 MWp solar facility with a 125 MW/320 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), making it a milestone in providing baseload renewable power in the country.

The facility is powered by Sungrow’s PowerTitan 2.0 solution, which achieved record-fast VSG off-grid commissioning in just two days. At the pre-grid connection stage, Sungrow achieved several firsts, including the Philippines’ first solar-plus-storage VRE compliance test in collaboration with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP). By storing excess solar output during the day and supplying power during evening demand, the facility supports the country’s goal of achieving 35 per cent renewable energy by 2030.
