PT Pertamina has announced plans to install solar systems at 5,000 gas stations in Indonesia and transform them to Green Energy Stations (GES). The GES is a solar system that utilizes solar photovoltaic (PV) systems or solar power plants (PLTS) as an alternative and cleaner source of energy. Currently, there are 76 GES located on different islands in Indonesia.
The deployment of 5000 PLTS is expected to increase the total installed capacity of the gas stations to 31 MW and reduce carbon emissions by 34,000 tons annually. This effort is part of the 2020 programme, under which PLTS has been installed at 63 Pertamina gas stations across Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara, with a total capacity of 385 KWp.
