The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has awarded a contract for the design and construction of the Loyang station and tunnels to a joint venture (JV) comprising Woh Hup Private Limited and Dongah Geological Engineering (Singapore). The contract is valued at SGD748 million and is a part of the Cross Island Line Phase 1 (CRL1) project. Construction works on the underground station is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2021.

The JV will carry out earth retaining and stabilising structure (ERSS), and excavation works. In addition, a section of the Loyang viaduct will be built right above the CRL1 Loyang station. It will be located between Tampines Expressway and Loyang Way on Loyang Avenue.

The CRL is the eighth high-capacity mass rapid transit (MRT) line in Singapore that is currently under construction. The line will be constructed in three phases with CRL1 being the first phase. The CRL1 will be 29 km long with 12 stations from Aviation Park to Bright Hill. Works on the CRL1 is scheduled to be completed by 2030.
