A consortium led by SK Innovation has been selected as the developer of the Quynh Lap Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Power Project in Nghe An province. The consortium, comprising SK Innovation, Petrovietnam Power Corporation and Vietnamese firm NASU, was designated by the Nghe An People’s Committee on February 20, 2026. The project represents an investment of approximately USD2.3 billion and is among the largest foreign-invested energy projects in Vietnam.

The Quynh Lap complex will include a 1,500 MW combined-cycle gas-fired power plant, a 250,000 cubic metre LNG import terminal and a dedicated port facility located in the Quynh Lap area, around 220 km south of Hanoi. Construction is scheduled to commence in 2027, with completion targeted for 2030. The LNG terminal may also be expanded into a regional hub to supply gas to nearby power plants.
