Singtel has become the first network provider in Singapore to achieve full 5G coverage across the entire Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) network, including all six underground lines and the newly completed Thomson-East Coast Line.
This enhances connectivity for commuters, allowing them to access 5G services while travelling. Singtel’s engineers performed the upgrade work since 2022, operating during non-operational hours to avoid disruptions. In line with its commitment to net-zero emissions (NZE) by 2045, Singtel reused existing hardware to minimise the environmental impact of the installation.
