The Ministry of Transport (MOT) of Thailand has announced plans to seek official development assistance (ODA) from the Government of Japan to develop airports nationwide, aiming to attract more passengers and support the government’s policy to increase foreign arrivals.

This includes new terminals at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports in Bangkok, and the construction of Lanna International Airport in Chiang Mai. Further, Japan’s financial support and expertise are essential for these developments, as well as for transitioning Thailand’s transportation system from road to rail. Japan has supported Thai infrastructure projects for over 70 years.
