Optimal Infrastructure Development, Inc., a unit of San Miguel Corporation, has bagged the contract to build and operate the 7.5 km elevated Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway. The company offered an upfront payment of PHP 11 billion, beating its closest rival Manila North Tollways Corporation that submitted PHP 305 million as upfront payment for the project. The upfront payment is given to the government in exchange for the 30-year concession to operate the toll road, including the 36 months for detailed design and the construction period. The construction of the project is expected to cost over PHP 15.5 billion. The signing of the contract is set for June 25, 2013.
