Four bidders have submitted pre-qualification documents for the operations and maintenance (O&M) contract of LRT-2, which traverses the cities of Manila, San Juan, Quezon City, Marikina and Pasig. These are the JV of MPIC and Ayala Corporation; JV of San Miguel Corporation and Korea Rail Network Authority; JV of DMIC and Tokyo Metro Company Limited; and JV of Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. and SMRT Corporation. The scope of the project includes O&M of the Masinag extension and the existing 13.8 km line, together with future extensions. The project has been tendered on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis by DOTC and the Manila Light Rail Transit Authority with a concession period of 10-15 years.
