The Airports of Thailand (AOT) has announced plans to invest THB44 billion for the expansion of Suvarnabhumi Airport and the development of the third phase of Don Mueang International Airport. AOT aims to enhance service and security standards at Suvarnabhumi Airport and also increase the flight capacity of Satellite Terminal 1 (SAT-1) from 50 flights per day to 120 by April 2024 and further to 400 by the end of 2024.
Additionally, AOT is also scheduled to start the bidding process for the East Expansion project for Suvarnabhumi Airport in May 2024. The project is expected to cost THB8 billion and will be able to handle an additional 15 million passengers annually.
Meanwhile, AOT has allocated THB36 billion for the development of the third phase of Don Mueang International Airport. This phase will feature the construction of a new international passenger terminal and the renovation of passenger building 1, which will increase the capacity from 30 million to 50 million passengers annually. The bidding process will start in 2024.
