The Government of the Philippines has approved the 10-year Maritime Industry Development Plan 2028 (MIDP) for the integrated development and strategic direction of the maritime sector. As per the executive order (EO), the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Board will adopt a system for the implementation, monitoring, and review of the MIDP as well as its component programs.
These component programs include modernisation and expansion of domestic shipping, promotion and expansion of overseas shipping, enhancement of maritime transport safety and security and adoption of an effective and sustainable maritime administration governance system. Additionally, the MIDP Technical Board will assist the board in the implementation, monitoring, updating, and reviewing of the programs.
