The Governments of Malaysia and Thailand have announced plans to construct a second bridge to connect their territories. The proposed bridge is expected to start construction in April 2025 and is expected to be completed by 2027.

Additionally, the project will include the creation of business opportunities, such as stalls, small shops, and enhanced commercial spaces, aimed at boosting local businesses in Kelantan, Malaysia, and Narathiwat, Thailand. Once the second bridge is completed, plans are in place to upgrade the existing bridge, which has served as a connection between the two countries since 1971.
