Plans have been announced to build five bridges along the Red (Hong) River in Hanoi, Vietnam. These bridges, identified as investment priorities, include Hong Ha, Me So, Thuong Cat, Van Phuc and Tu Lien.

The two bridges of Hong Ha and Me So will be located on Ring Road 4, an important route for the development of the Capital Region. Hong Ha Bridge will be constructed 11.5 km upstream from the current Thang Long Bridge. On completion, the bridge will reduce traffic density on the Thang Long Bridge. Meanwhile, the Me So Bridge will cross Huu Hong Dyke in Thuong Tin District. It will provide a link between the Phap Van – Cau Gie Expressway and the Hanoi – Hai Phong Expressway, reducing vehicle traffic entering the Hanoi inner city area as well as increasing the operational efficiency of both expressways.

Plans for the alignment, planning and location of both bridges have already been approved. Physical construction is expected to commence soon.
