The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced the completion of Phase I of the Singapore Rail Test Centre (SRTC) and has commenced operations on its high-speed test track. The SRTC is the first train testing facility in the Southeast Asia region. The first two Circle Line 6 (CCL6) trains are currently undergoing testing and commissioning works.

Phase II will cover the construction of a 3-km-long endurance looped track and a 2.8-km-long performance and integration looped track, as well as the three-storey Administration Building, Operations Control Centre Building, and the maintenance and refurbishment workshops. The full SRTC is expected to be completed by 2025.

Upon completion, the 50-hectare-SRTC will serve as a testing platform for multiple railway systems before they are deployed on the main lines, including signalling, communications, power and integrated supervisory control systems. Additionally, it will also include features like LED lighting, solar panels, a hybrid cooling system, and bicycle parking lots and sheltered linkways will also be provided.
