The Port Klang Authority (PKA) has completed a feasibility study for the construction of a third port on Carey Island in Selangor, Malaysia. The study was conducted to identify a suitable site for the construction of a new port to be developed as Northport and Westports have reached maximum capacity.
Moreover, the development of the third terminal has also been included in the Carey Island Development Master Plan by the Selangor State Department of Urban and Rural Planning (PLANMalaysia).
In March 2023, PKA announced plans to construct a cargo port at an investment of RM28 billion on Carey Island, Klang which is scheduled to be completed by 2060.
