The Philippines has announced that, under its commitment to the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 75 per cent by 2030, up from a target of 70 per cent set during 2017. Out of this, 72.29 per cent of the target is contingent on developing countries providing climate finance, technology, and capacity growth as recommended by the Paris Agreement. The remaining 2.71 percent of the target would be met primarily with domestic capital.

The Philippines signed the Paris Agreement in 2017 and gained access to the Green Climate Fund, which extends funding to developing countries to help them combat global warming.

The Government of Philippines has forecasted that the country’s total emissions from 2020 to 2030 will be 3,340.3 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (MTCO2e).
