The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has set the fourth quarter of 2027 as the target for partial operations of the Davao Public Transport Modernisation Project (DPTMP). The construction timeline during a recent site inspection stated that further delays would not be accepted and that outstanding issues must be resolved promptly to complete the project.
The 672 km DPTMP is designed to serve approximately 800,000 commuters daily. The planned fleet will include 386 electric buses, 531 standard buses and 188 minibuses operating across the network. The DOTr aims to position the DPTMP as a model for public transport modernisation in other provinces, with Lopez emphasising its potential to become a template for replication nationwide.
