The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has invited bids to develop the first phase of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project in Cebu, Philippines. The contract will cover construction on the route between Capitol to the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) as well as the Cebu Port which is a part of the BRT system. Other works include the installation of trunk lines and the upgrading of sidewalks along the route. The contract will be for a period of 12 months. The contract will be funded from a PHP1.048 billion loan received from the World Bank for the BRT project.
The bid security amount is PHP21 million and the deadline for bid submission is April 4, 2022. Bidders who have conflicts of interest with other bidders or suppliers of products and services for the project will be excluded.
The PHP 10.89 billion Cebu BRT project is funded by the Government of France government through Agence Française de Développement (AFD) as well as the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the Clean Technology Fund (CTF).
The Cebu BRT project will cover a route of 23 km between Barangay Bulacao to Talamban. Once open to traffic, 250 buses will operate on the BRT route and are expected to transport approximately 60,000 passengers per day.
