The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Policy Committee has approved the formation of a new company called EEC Airport Asset Development Company Limited to undertake the development of Thailand’s U-tapao airport. The newly formed company is owned by the EEC project and will have a capital of approximately THB50 million.

The company will oversee the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) programme that was previously put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Thai Airways International’s (THAI) bankruptcy.

The U-tapao International Airport will cover 1,000 hectares of land, and stretch between Rayong’s Ban Chang district to Sattahip district. The project is expected to be finished in 2023.
