The Philippine Department of Transportation (DOTr) has allowed almost 300 buses operating from Sapang Palay and Fairview to use NIA Road in Quezon City to improve commuter access. The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) issued 268 special permits enabling these buses to pick up and drop off passengers along the corridor. The arrangement will be in effect during rush hours from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. throughout October, with adjustments possible based on ongoing assessments.

The permitted bus routes begin at Sapang Palay, passing through Commonwealth Avenue, East Avenue, Internal Road, and NIA Road before returning. While loading and unloading are allowed, using NIA Road as a terminal remains prohibited.

This initiative aims to reduce walking distances for commuters, particularly seniors and persons with disabilities, by bringing bus services closer to the MRT-3 line. The DOTr expects that the measure will enhance passenger convenience while maintaining orderly traffic and safety along NIA Road.
