The Government of city of Baguio has rolled out the John Hay Loop, a free electric vehicle (EV) shuttle system aimed at easing congestion and reducing carbon emissions in the Camp John Hay tourism estate in the Philippines. Three EV units, each with a capacity of 31 passengers, will run daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., with departures every 5 to 10 minutes.
The six-month pilot, developed by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), John Hay Management Corporation, Korean partners, and the Cordillera transport sector, is expected to serve nearly 4,000 people daily. Powered by lithium-ion batteries that recharge in under 90 minutes, the project is seen as a model for sustainable transport in tourism hubs across the country.
