APM Terminals has partnered with the HATECO group to expand the capacity of the Lach Huyen port in northern Vietnam. As a part of the project, two new deep-water berths will be added. HATECO will be the investor for the expansion project while APM Terminals will offer financial, operational and technical support.

Each berth will be 450-m-long and will be able to accommodate ships with capacity of up to 18,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). The facility will also feature five ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and 14 rubber-tyre gantry (RTG) cranes.

Construction and equipment installation works are expected to be completed by the end of 2024, with operations commencing in Q1 2025. The project will be key in increasing the import and export of goods between Vietnam, Europe and America.
