The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Connector’s Caloocan-España section has been opened to commuter traffic in the Philippines. The 5-km-long stretch will reduce travel time between Caloocan and Manila from 30 minutes to just five minutes. For a limited time, toll-free access will be provided. Additionally, the new road will also benefit the logistics sector, since cargo trucks will have 24/7 access to the expressway.

Speed limits have been set at 80 kph for cars and buses. Motorcycles must be categorized as 400cc or above.

Work on the second section, between España and Sta. Mesa, is currently 42 complete while 80 per cent of right of way acquisition has been completed. The section is expected to be opened to traffic by June 2023. Once fully operational, the NLEX Connector is estimated to accommodate around 35,000 vehicles daily.
