The Pantai 2 sewage treatment plant (P2STP), which involves an investment of RM 983 million, is scheduled for completion in May 2016. The P2STP project comprises two recreation parks and an underground sewage treatment plant (STP), which has been fully operational since January 2016 after construction began in July 2011. Currently, 98 per cent of the project has been completed, while the two recreation parks are expected to be completed in May 2016 and opened to the public by mid-2016. The P2STP utilises various green technologies including the skylight concept for the underground plant, effluent reuse, rainwater harvesting and the use of biogas and solar panels to generate electricity. The Langat STP will be the next STP in the country to adopt similar green technology. The tender for the plant was called in October 2014, construction work started in 2015, and it is expected to be completed by mid-2018.
