Telekom Malaysia has signed two public private partnership agreements with the government for the implementation of the High Speed Broadband Project Phase 2 (HSBB 2) and the Suburban Broadband Project (SUBB). The HSBB 2 project encompasses the deployment of additional access and core capacity networks in select capitals and major towns throughout the country. The SUBB project will involve the upgradation of existing copper lines to deliver broadband at downlink speeds of up to 20 Mbps, or up to 100 Mbps in those areas where the fibre to the home (FTTH) technology is being utilised. Both projects will be rolled out over a period of ten years. The cost of the HSBB 2 and the SUBB projects will reportedly be around MYR 1.8 billion and MYR 1.6 billion respectively.
