Naim Holdings Berhad is considering securing one of the 11 work packages of the Pan Borneo Highway project, in both the road construction and supply of building materials segments. The firm, which has teamed up with an established peninsular Malaysia-based construction firm, has been pre-qualified to bid for the project’s work packages. The project stretches 746 km from Sematan in southern Sarawak to Merapok in northern Sarawak bordering Sabah. The Sarawak portion is estimated to cost around RM 16 billion. The remaining 10 packages will be tendered out in phases during 2016. While two work packages are under construction, the third package is expected to be awarded soon. In a separate development, Naim Engineering Sendirian Berhad, a subsidiary of Naim, has also been pre-qualified to tender for the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit 2 station packages.
