Palawan Electric Cooperative (Paleco) has signed a 20-year power supply agreement (PSA) with Brooke’s Point Power Generation Incorporation (BPPGI) to build a 7 MW multi-feedstock biomass power plant in Barangay Tub Tub in the Philippines. The power plant will use biodegradable waste like rice chaff, coconut shells and other feedstock items to generate electricity.

The Phase 1 of the project will support interconnectivity of Paleco to the main grid and is expected to cost PHP6.4 billion. The commercial operations will commence after the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) approves the PSA. The project is scheduled to be completed in 18 months.
