Ninh Thuan province has approved the development of a wind power project by the Vietnam Electricity Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company. The project will be taken up in two phases. Phase I will involve the Cong Hai project that covers 20 hectares in Thuan Bac district. The annual capacity of the three turbines (1 MW each) will be 14 million kWh of electricity. It will be implemented during the current calendar year. Further, Phase II, which will be developed in 2014–15, extends across 160 hectares. Under this phase, 15 turbines will be deployed with a capacity of 2.5 MW each. The cost of the project per MW stands at 67,538 million dong.
