The Public Works and Housing Ministry is proposing a set of infrastructure projects worth IDR 21.7 trillion ($1.46 billion) for private investors through a public-private partnership (PPP) scheme. The proposed infrastructure projects include the Gilimanuk-Mengwi toll road project in the tourism hub of Bali, worth IDR 19.35 trillion, and bridge replacement and/or duplication of bridges across Java Island with a total investment of IDR 2.35 trillion. Most of the bridges are of the Callender-Hamilton truss type. Construction is slated to begin in 2021 and the toll road is to be fully operational by 2024. The renewal of the bridges will adopt an availability payment investment scheme with a concession period of 12 years. The construction on the bridges will begin next year, and they are expected to be fully operational by 2023.
