Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has scrapped 15 hydropower plants totalling 46.15 MW in capacity in the central province of Nghe An. The plants, mostly located in remote areas, were of capacities lower than 9 MW. So far, about 47 hydropower plants with a combined capacity of 1,407 MW have been approved in Nghe An. Of these, 32 projects were approved by the government and the remaining 15 by the local authority.
