The Government of Cambodia has received the first tranche of funding of USD120 million out of the USD600 million for the Mekong River systems electrification project from a multilateral bank. The second tranche of the funding of USD120 million is currently under negotiations with investors from Singapore and Hong Kong.

The project is being developed in phases. Phase I of this project covers the installation of up to ten 100 MW solar arrays with complimentary LFP electric battery storage solutions. Phase II of the project will entail numerous mobile boxable 20 and 40-foot shipping containers for the distribution of materials for clinics, classrooms, water treatment, food processing, light manufacture and other important services and public goods. Meanwhile, Phase III of the project will connect the ten 100 MW solar arrays and complimentary storage facilities to the national grid.
