The Ministry of Transport (MoT) in Vietnam plans to expand intelligent transportation systems (ITS) on highways to enhance traffic management capabilities. ITS aims to improve connectivity between people, vehicles, and highway infrastructure, ensuring smooth, safe, efficient, convenient, and eco-friendly traffic flow.
From 2023-2025, a national ITS planning and national ITS architecture will be developed with a vision for 2030. Additionally, MoT will complete the development in stages which will include an electronic toll collection (ETC) system and allocation of funds for ETC on expressways
Then, in the period 2025-30, the MoT will construct a national traffic management centre connecting local centres. After 2030, MoT will continue ITS on fully completed expressways and will operate the national traffic management centre.
