Germany-based MAN Energy Solutions (MAN), an engineering manufacturer, and China National Machinery Corporation (CHMC), a state-owned energy company, have jointly commissioned a 200 MW power generation plant near Cambodia’s Phnom Penh and handed it over for operations to Electricité du Cambodge (EDC), Cambodia’s electric utility company.
The plant’s engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) was handled by CHMC, while the eleven MAN 18V51/60DF engines and plant support units were supplied and installed by MAN Energy Solutions. The eleven engines were delivered and commissioned within 20 months despite the challenged prosed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The total combined capacity of the engines will be able to power 70,000 homes in Cambodia. The power plant will initially operate on heavy fuel oil, and eventually operate on lower-emission natural gas.
MAN Energy will provide original equipment manufacturer (OEM) spare parts, special facilities, and digital solutions for the plant and MAN PrimeServ will provide maintenance services under a five-year service agreement.
