The Government of Malaysia has begun piloting its first large-scale AI-powered traffic intelligence system in Petaling Jaya, developed jointly by CelcomDigi, MyDigital Corporation, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB), and the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ). The pilot covers key areas including PJ Sentral, SS2, and the Damansara–Puchong Expressway (LDP).
The system uses neural networks, advanced analytics, and 5G connectivity to optimize traffic light cycles, reduce congestion, and suggest alternative routes during peak hours or disruptions. It also provides predictive data to support urban planning and infrastructure upgrades.
This initiative aligns with Malaysia’s Digital Economy Blueprint and the JENDELA program, forming part of the government’s broader AI Nation agenda. Officials plan to expand the platform to other major cities nationwide.
