The Government of Lamitan has announced plans to develop a new airport in the Philippines’ city. As of now, land acquisition process is already underway for the project, with sites being identified by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP). About 100 hectares of land is needed for the airport and acquisition is 30 per cent completed.

About PHP30 million has been allocated from the city budget while the provincial government of Basilan has allocated PHP20 million to fund land acquisition.
