Nickel Asia Corporation (NAC), through its subsidiary Emerging Power Incorporated (EPI), has formed a joint venture (JV) company with Shell Overseas Investments B.V to develop renewable energy (RE) projects in the Philippines.

The JV plans to add 1 GW of new renewable capacity to its portfolio by 2028 as well as to expand it to 3 GW in the future. These will be linked to the Luzon and Visayas grid in the Philippines. While most projects will be utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) based, feasibility of onshore wind and energy storage systems (ESS) are also being explored.
